I want to know more...

You should read Steven C. Smith's biography A Heart at Fire's Center: The Life and Music of Bernard Herrmann (University of California Press, 1991). For more emphasis on the musicology, check out Graham Bruce's Bernard Herrmann: Film Music Narrative (UMI Research, 1985).

You should also try to catch the 2-and-a-half hour radio documentary Bernard Herrmann: A Celebration of His Life and Music (Crawford/Coate, 1988). This has earlier been broadcast online on this site.

There is also a splendid one hour documentary film called Music for the Movies: Bernard Herrmann by Joshua Waletzky (1992, nominated for an Academy Award), and a television documentary 20th Century Greats: Bernard Herrmann by Howard Goodall (Channel 4, 2004).

Permission to link

If you want to link to any part of this site, you are welcome to do so.

There is no legal precedent for requiring permission to link to a site, and in some ways it goes against the very grain of the world wide web to do so.

It's nice, however, if you let us know :-) but not required.
